1.1: Seeds of Love

Hello everyone! Welcome to Roots! This is a Differences in the Family Tree challenge - I'm super excited that you're here and hope you enjoy! Check the references page for a link to the rules/information for this type of challenge if you're so inclined. In the meantime, let's get this thing started!

As always, we will start this challenge off by introducing you to our adorable little founder. Her name is Lauren Abernathy. She is cheerful, romantic and she loves the outdoors. Her aspiration is freelance botanist, which also gains her the collector trait. She is just cute as a button!

She has moved into this adorable little house in Newcrest. For some reason it's disappeared from my gallery (in other words, I forgot to actually save it in my gallery...) so I can't recall who made it at this moment. I will find it and update this post when I do!

I had her get started on her aspiration right away. One of the rules for the founding generation is that they can't get a job, they have to live off the land, so she's gotta get started and get to selling some of her produce.

She spent the rest of the afternoon out searching for a spouse. Per the rules, her spouse must have the loves the outdoors trait. The first guy who tries chatting her up is J Huntington III. And how do I feel about that? Well, let me tell you.

NO. GTFO. YOU HAVE AN ADORABLE ALIEN HUSBAND AT HOME. GO AWAAAAAY. (If you have no idea what I'm talking about and think I sound crazy, it's because I am. Also, check my link for my favorite stories and check out Operation: Pollinate Newcrest and you'll understand my freak out.)

Next up came Don Lothario. I can't remember why we rejected him. Maybe his traits? Maybe he didn't have the required one? Or maybe it's his noncommittal nature? His douchey workout wardrobe choices? I don't know. Either way, next please.

Finally, this guy stopped to say hello. His name is Markus Edmonds, and he came with a legacy loves household I downloaded. The household was made by littlecameragirl and features some really cute male sims! This one has the magic trait we need, he obviously cleans up VERY well, and Lauren seemed to approve right away. Sorry, Markus, but you are officially the 'chosen one'.

She invited him over for dinner and whipped up a nice garden salad.

Meanwhile, Markus was drawn to the computer like a moth to a flame. She tried to talk to him and get his attention focused elsewhere, but they didn't get much further than that.

The next morning she tended to her garden some more. Things were coming along nicely!

Next, she invited Markus over to try and get things moving. He came over suuuuuper grumpy!

She got him to calm down and sit with her and talk for awhile. She ended up asking him to spend the night and he was happy to oblige!

The next morning, things finally started to progress. First, an underwear clad friendly hug!

She kept the ball rolling with some flirts and some eye gazing. These two are freaking precious.

I had to send Lauren out to tend to her garden, but as soon as she got back inside she picked up right where they left off! First she pulled him in for a warm embrace.

More romantic action spam!

First kiss time! It was a success. This relationship has progressed very easily. They were both pretty into it pretty quickly.

Wasting no time, she made their boyfriend/girlfriend status official! Selfie afterward to commemorate the occasion! <333

They both rolled a wish to woohoo and I aim to please. Except I COMPLETELY forgot that that's a no-no for gen 1 in the DITFT rules. Oops :( Oh well. I regret nothing. Pardon me for getting a little weird, but...these two have crazy, out of this world woohoo EVERY SINGLE TIME. They both get the "extremely satisfied" moodlet (or whatever the heck it says) and I get a full on fireworks show every single time they woohoo, along with the full on bed shaking a dust flying. Most of the time in my games, I just get the hearts and the little bed shaking, but not with these two. These two are VERY into each other and I absolutely adore that!

Ok, so now that I've officially scared you all away with the unnecessary details of my sims woohoo habits, this super sad shot shows a VERY sad Lauren after finding out their little romp in the bedroom failed to result in pregnancy. POOR BB :(

She continued to sulk around the house the rest of the day. She even ate sadly. I thought I was going to die of sadness when I watched her little lip wibble.

Until, that is, she burst out into FULL ON TEARS. What are you doing to me, Lauren?!

I had her invite Markus out to the park later that afternoon. I needed to get over this sadness and move on to happier things in life. She went ahead and proposed to him, hoping for the best.

Pssssshhh. As if there was any doubt. He was all over that ish. Of course he said yes! Happy smoochies all around!

The two were magically transported to this ADORABLE wedding lot (uploaded by aryannehawker) for a private little ceremony. WEDDING SPAM!

After the beautiful ceremony, the happy couple headed home to give that baby making thing another try! I have a little secret to share. After their first woohoo, seeing as I forgot about the no woohoo before marriage rule, they had actually tried twice more to conceive, both with no success. So this was actually their 4th attempt and I was beginning to worry a little bit that it just wasn't in the cards for them for some reason.

Thankfully, my worries were for naught! Toilet confetti = baby #1 is on its way!! :D

She couldn't wait to share the news with her new hubby! He was just as excited as she was!

The garden continued to grow. Lauren reached the level where she was able to evolve her plants, which is pretty neat to watch.

Markus, working hard for the husband of the year award, helped out with the cooking and housework duties while Lauren worked on her garden.

Thankfully, Lauren's pregnancy went very smooth. She had no morning sickness and was always smiling - never really feeling uncomfortable, nauseous or anything of the like. Nice and easy :) I like to think baby enjoyed its garden time with momma.

Markus has the Joke Star aspiration so they spent some time watching the comedy channel together. Later, Lauren played a little BlicBlock to pass the time.

Markus had to go out and be funny to 5 sims. This sidewalk was like a bait trap. The fact that the only people he found to talk to were children would be A LOT more creepy if Geoffrey Landgraab hadn't shown up. Thanks, Geoff, you saved Markus from impending creeper status.

Finally baby time arrived! Lauren headed into the nursery to welcome their little nooboo into the world.

IT'S A BOY!! Everyone give a warm welcome to Ryllo Abernathy!

Mom gave him a loving, cuddly welcome....and then promptly passed out. Bahaha. Poor thing was EXHAUSTED.

And that is where we will leave things off tonight! I hope you guys enjoyed this update and will continue to follow the Abernathy family's journey! Tune in next time to see if Markus and Lauren have anymore luck getting pregnant and completing their aspirations! Thanks for reading!
